But now I'm looking at a new decade from a different perspective. I've got a family now. A wife and three daughters will have a way of making you view the world differently. So I'm not ambitious enough to make New Decade resolutions, but I'll make a list of 2010 resolutions and see how I come out.
1) I will lose some weight
Aahh, the oldest resolution of them all. I've always been a big guy, but before it felt different. Now I see that my weight will probably cut my time short with my girls. I can't have that. Plus, instead of collecting sports cards, I want to play sports. I want to lace up the shoes and play basketball. I want to teach my kids some T-Ball. Something.
I'm going to drink water. I'm going to go for walks with my wife. I'm going to eat more apples and oranges. And since freaking Bally has an iron-clad contract with me (of which there is no escape for the next two years), I may as well hit the gym once in a while.
2) I will go to a Blazer game
Sounds easy right? Oddly enough, I've never been to a game. I watch EVERY game on TV. But eventually, I'm going to have to go. If that means that at some point this year I have to not buy a hobby box to be able to go to a game...well, I might have to do that.
However, I will not go until Nic Batum is playing again. That's the rule.
3) I will try to average one post a day on the blog
I left college once upon a time to be a writer. Then real-life happens, and you realize that very few people will pay you to write. This blog combines my love of the written word with a great hobby. Already it gives me something that I look forward to.
I find myself studying my sport more closely. It challenges me - in a good way. I'm sure at times I'll get bored and frustrated with content, but as of right now, I have to try to get this blog at least 365 posts by December 31, 2010. We shall see.
4) I will build three sets this year
I'm not a hit chaser, though I do enjoy a good pull. But for me this hobby loses something when you can bust ten boxes or more a year of different product and not complete a single set. This year will be a return to my roots in set building.
5) I will be a great dad
I've been a good father. I'm home every night, we eat dinner together every night and I tuck the girls in every night. But it doesn't seem to be enough. At least not for me. I love my father dearly, but the older I get, the more I realize he's a bit of a mystery to me. It's amazing how much you don't know about your parents.
I want to be known by my children. I will teach them my favorite books. I will try to show them why I love this hobby and sports in general. I want to find the way to go from good dad to great dad.
Happy New Year everybody!
Ooooh. Before I forget:
6) I will have the greatest Nicolas Batum Bowman RC collection...in the world!
Pretty self-explanatory. If you have any variation of this card, please email me.

Good stuff, I hope you accomplish all of them. We'll have to go find a court and go one on one. I've been wanting to play, too.
Oh, I forgot to mention in my drunken rambling of a post last night that you've inspired me to take the Star Wars novel challenge. Can I read them in a year? Doubt it. But I'll try. I've got Heir to the Empire right beside me. It's all uphill from here.
I've got a ball in my car at all times. We should play. Or pretend that we can play (in my case).
Star Wars novels...addicting. Once you start you won't have a choice.
