Stackhouse to the Bucks. Really?

So Jerry Stackhouse is going to fill Michael Redd's hole in Milwaukie.  And in doing so, the Bucks have just assured that Tyreke Evans is going to win Rookie of the Year.

The reason being is that Brandon Jennings needs a teammate to take some pressure off of him.  He doesn't need an old man to counsel him.

Stackhouse started back in 95-96 with the 76'ers. And he bounced around for several years after that.  And last year he played in Dallas.  He played in a total of 10 games, starting only 1 of them.

So he played 10 games last year.  No games this year.  And the coach of the Bucks says that they're paying him to come in and play.  Are they for real?  To fill the whole in your lineup you need to work in trades for players in mid-season form.  You don't bring in a guy with no real game time for nearly two years.

Sorry to Jennings, your team is going to get worse as you try to absorb a guy like Stackhouse into the fold.  I doubt you'll make the playoffs, and ROY isn't looking very promising if you can't put up more wins.

Of all the players out there who need to be traded, you take a guy off the sofa.  AND PEOPLE WONDER WHY THE EAST IS ALWAYS SO BAD.  Put me in charge of the Bucks, I'll find a guy who wants to play alongside B. Jennings and Bogut.  I'm only mad because I like to see a good, competetive league.  I'm not a Bucks fan in the least.  But if the East doesn't get better, the league suffers as a whole.  Just incredible.

Stackhouse was a pretty good pickup when he first got to Dallas, but man did he drop off. I don't get that move either.

TO make a trade you have to give up someone. Who are the Bucks going to give up to get a player who is better then Stackhouse? You have had far better posts then this rant.

I'm a tremendous Bucks fan and I couldn't be any more displeased with the signing. Washed up veteran argument aside, this move will make it more difficult for the Bucks to make deals at the trade deadline because their roster is now full at 15. I would much rather see Jodie Meeks sink or swim.

Anonymous,

Hey, well I appreciate you reading the blog enough to have an opinion of what you like and what you don't.

I guess that I look at the Bucks as a team that has their future superstar already in hand. They have the guy they're going to build around.

Now as far as a trade goes, they're in a better position to trade away a draft pick - even a second round pick - from any of the next three years or so.

There are so many teams that are so out of it right now that they'll snap up a draft pick to trade away some roster salary on a losing effort.

I'm saying that the Bucks had great options - and chose the most mind boggling of them all.

Thanks for reading. And thanks for disagreeing. I always welcome the chance to debate out my views.

You still have not expressed your options. There is little value in a second round pick. Once in awhile someone slides or there is a fluke that pans out. THe Bucks will not give up a first. The only way to fill the roster spot was to sign a veteran or call up someone from the D League.

Anonymous,

I'm not convinced that a deal couldn't have been made with a second round draft pick and cash considerations for a current roster player from another team.

So the first option would've been to deal a pick - or two - to bring in a low to mid level salary player. Who would that be? I don't know. Filling Redd's shoes isn't easy. But with the players in the league, something could've been done to bring in a roster player.

And secondly, you beat me to it, the D league. There is a much better talent pool in the D League right now. At least those players have actually played.

I'm sorry. The GM is making way too much money to settle for a Stackhouse deal. The guy is nowhere near gameshape. Just my opinion though.

Now I can see your point but the best option is who they are starting Carlos Delfino. Stackhouse has experience can get into shape fairly quickly and has been a player who will come off the bench without grumbling about minutes.
