Am I saying that Oscar is better than MJ? No. I was a kid watching MJ play, and even as a kid you just sort of knew that you were watching the greatest ever. But Robertson is like this forgotten shadow figure in American basketball. Everybody has heard his name, but most couldn't tell you who he played for, what he did or why he's in the Hall of Fame.
Honestly, I've never considered, or even searched for, an Oscar Robertson card or collection. To be fair, I've never ebay searched MJ either. And the reason for that is; why should I? Why would I do a search for MJ and see the thousand dollar cards that I could never afford? I figured the same would be said for Oscar Robertson. I was wrong.
Truth be told, it would be as affordable (if that's the right word) for me to build an Oscar Robertson collection as it would to build the Nicolas Batum collection. Now, I didn't see a RC listed, but the rest of his vintage is priced way low, and his autos (even the Exquisites) never topped $100. A real steal in my opinion.
I loved collecting vintage baseball. I started collecting '63 Dodgers cards for my pop a while back. It was a fun project. I never considered doing it for myself with basketball. But now...consider myself considering. This card wouldn't be a bad start. And it can be had for a bit of pocket change.

That's a good idea. Tracking down those old Topps cards would be pretty fun. I'm reading a book right now that was written in 1960 called the Cavalcade of Basketball. It's really the fist book that covered the history of basketball up to that point. Robertson wasn't even in the NBA when the book was written. He played college at Cincinnati and he was making a huge impact even then. Anyway, you could definately pick worse players to collect.
I wish not agree on it. I over precise post. Expressly the designation attracted me to read the unscathed story.
Easily I to but I dream the post should have more info then it has.
