Caribbean Series baseball is missing something....

It's missing Major League players - that's what it's missing.  Does anybody else think that the WBC killed international baseball competition for the forseeable future?

I rooted for Mexico in last year's Caribbean Series.  Well actually I rooted for the Gonzalez brothers.  Edgar Gonzalez - EGon, for those in the know - was the batting avg leader for the Series with a .423 average.  Oh, and a scrub named Adrian Gonzalez led the way with 3 dingers and 8 RBI's.

Who does Mexico have this year from the big clubs?  Walter Silva.  Actually Silva made it to the Bigs by the recommendation of the Gonzalez brothers, but the Padres had such a dismal offense that the guy never got much run support.

Oh well.  At least it's live baseball.  And it's daytime baseball, so it doesn't cut into my Blazer Mania in the evenings.

I leave you with this, my Edgar Gonzalez Bowman Chrome Gold collection.  Still my favorite of the Gonzalez brothers.

I saw Silva start a game for the Beavers last season. He was throwing a no-hitter, but had to get yanked because he was having trouble finding the plate.

TMH,

I'm always on the lookout for some EGon variations. I'd appreciate it.
