Game One - Blazers & Suns - This is what we've been waiting for

Well, the time has finally come.  All year long I've watched the Blazers.  I've yet to miss a game.  And now, even after winning more than 50 games for the second year in a row, it feels like this whole thing is in jeopardy.  It feels like we're going to be let down.

Brandon Roy is out.  I just don't get how the Blazers can have such a strong team that is built on such weak bones.  From Roy to Oden to Przybilla to Webster - you'd swear by the medical records that this team had osteoporosis.  But that is neither here nor there.  We are where we are.  And that's at a number six seed.  Not bad considering what the team has gone through.  But I said about a week ago that nobody wanted to play the Suns in the playoffs.  Nobody.  But here we are.  Typical.

So that's the rational side of me.  Screw that side.

Here's the super-fan side of me.

Look at what happened to the Jazz last night.  Okur is out for the rest of the playoffs with an injury.  I'm not saying that I wish the Suns to get injured - but it happens.  If Amare would somehow eat a bad sushi roll - I'd wish him well, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it either.

But I'm not saying that our only hopes hinge on an injury to the Suns.  In some ways, having Brandon out may be a better thing for Andre Miller in this matchup.  Without Roy calling for the ball, Miller will charge the lane and get the Suns into some early foul trouble.

If I were the coach, that would be my strategy.  All the guards and centers must be driving the lane at all times.  The Suns will foul you like anybody else.  Oh, and Batum doesn't have Ron Artest to deal with this year, so I look for him to come up big this series.  But I look for him to come up big every game.

In short, do we have a chance?  Hell yes there's a chance.  And that's worth rooting for.
