Well, here it is. I was pretty excited for this race. It was a wide open field with the favorite Eskendereya sitting out with an injury. And on top of that, it was a sloppy track, so there was money to be made - all the odds were fairly high.
I had one of my favorite horses of the year, Conveyance. But the 12 horse showed too much speed early and couldn't hold it against this field. His odds were like 27-1. I was screaming for him to show some early pace and save a kick for the end. But he didn't.
My second pick was the 10, Paddy O' Prado. He ended up finishing strong in 3rd. But he couldn't be the winner who really ran the best race for the conditions.
