Anybody want to see how FIBA views Nicolas Batum?

This is the preview picture for the latest news release at http://www.fiba.com/.  On August 15th, France will play the American squad in a friendly at Madison Square Garden in preparations for the FIBA World Championships in Turkey this year.  And to promote this event, they put a picture of Kobe and Batum in their national gear.

In some weird way it's just more vindication for getting behind the right young player.  Batum, on the international stage, is a much bigger deal than he his on our courts here in the states.  And no doubt, that some of that stems from Batum playing in Portland as opposed to L.A. or New York.  But the kid is making waves.

Still no word on which stations will be covering the Basketball Championships, but I'm sure that it will at least be online or NBA TV.  I'm hoping that it gets some of the bigger networks as well.

But c'mon, you gotta love that picture.  They could have put Parker or Beaubois up there, but they went with Batum as the key player.  I love the picture too.  Going at the hoop as hard as Rand Paul going at the Civil Rights Act.  That's right.  Burn!

What are the chances of a cards company making an "international" set. I guess it would be tuff with different nations. Maybe they could work something out with FIBA. Anyways, it just would be cool.

Nice pic. I'm sure the games will be on TV. And you're totally right about Batum playing in Portland. I've been to the Rose City and loved it, but the Blazers players just don't get the same pub as the bigger markets.
