The Nicolas Batum exit interview

Unless you're a huge Batum honk like I am, just fast forward to around the 1:35 mark of the video below.  A reporter asks Nic if maybe Nate will call plays for him next year.  The reaction Nic gives pretty much says it all.  It's a look of complete frustration and confusion with some humor.  Nic's response?  Ask Nate.

And that's why we probably won't see Rudy Fernandez here next year.  This force-feeding offense to LaMarcus and Roy isn't working in the post-season.  It's a great formula for grinding out the regular season, but we got owned two playoff series in a row.  And nobody is happy with the offense.  Nic far surpassed other players in 3PT %, and yet not one play is ever called for him.

Look at Channing Frye.  Complete frustration with Nate while he was here.  He wasn't allowed to shine in his area of expertise.  Now look at him.  The national media kind of knows who he is now.  Imagine that.  Rudy is going to be a superstar somewhere when an offensive minded coach just lets him play.

I hope the same isn't true of Nic in a couple of years.

In any event, here's Nic.  No subtitles needed anymore.  His English is really improved from last year.

Yeah, I'm having a hard time seeing Rudy staying in Portland much longer. I hope the Knicks make good use of him.
