I for one am absolutely sold that the World Cup is the greatest event to happen in sports. More and more we see that football, futbol or soccer is the most adored, most passionate sport worldwide. And Americans are catching on. Do you think ESPN wanted to run soccer five years ago? No. But people like myself regularly spend an extra $25-30 dollars a month on their cable bills to be able to get premium soccer channels. The dollar speaks louder than other corporate agendas -
how did Strongman competitions and Lumberjack tournaments work out for ESPN for a decade while the rest of the world watched soccer? So ESPN figured it couldn't continue to let the market go to other competitors. And now they have the World Cup. So good for them. And good for us.
And this morning the whole thing gets kicked off with South Africa facing off against Mexico. And I despise the Mexican squad. I despise their coach, their Azteca stadium and their keeper, Memo Ochoa. So I'll be rooting hard for South Africa. Especially since Steven Pienaar is playing for South Africa. Pienaar plays for Everton - and he's going to show the world what the English fans have known for a while. Simply put, the guy can be a game changer.
So here we are. The start of the World Cup. I'm so excited.
And remember, just say no to Memo.
Freaking Ochoa. Stupid girly headband. I hope he gets worked.

Gio Dos Santos is going to tear the right flank apart. I got Mexico and Uruguay winning today.
Well, the home nation first game mojo continues. And Ochoa wasn't even the keeper.
Now it's time to root for America.
