I understand that the NBA has to pre-schedule the dates for the Finals - but man alive, it feels like basketball has been away for a month already. And in reality it's only been a week. Although this year is a bit different with the World Cup hype surrounding the Finals. And the hockey playoffs have been eventful - so ESPN's resident mullet man tells us - and Lebron, Wade and Bosh are stealing headlines with free-agency. So can we finally just get down to the games? Finally.
SIDE NOTE: I told myself I was going to try to watch hockey's finals this year - I watched a lot of last year's - but I just haven't had time. Maybe next year. I'm not looking to get another sport, mind you. I have basketball, baseball and soccer - plus UFC and boxing when I can. I've taken out American Football from my diet already. But I feel that I should try to watch some to have a bit of knowledge on the subject. Such is the life of the sports addict.
In any event, we're at the NBA Finals. And it's a good match-up. You really can't beat Lakers vs. Celtics. Well, Blazers vs. Celtics would've been better - but we'll wait our turn. Really, I'm not expecting too much from this series. But I'm more than willing to be surprised. I have no rooting interest in the Finals, so I'm just hoping to have quality basketball on display.
And in other news, my super-secret card is on the way. I just confirmed the shipping. And I've also been waiting for other items to come in the mail - that haven't shown up yet. I'm hoping for some manila-envelope love this evening. I need my fix, you know.
