This post will be short. My hands hurt. I clapped so hard at the end of that game that my hands are still stinging red.
Landon Donovan proved he deserves the number 10 jersey once again.
The officials again tried out for the NBA.
But the U.S. overcame. The players didn't lose their cool like the Algerians. The Americans didn't start taking cheap shots like the other squad. And the Americans didn't scream into the face of the officiating crew like the Algerians did.
The U.S. overcame the greatest of odds to advance and take the stage. And they did it with class. This squad undoubtedly earned some new fans - and some much earned respect internationally.
Now today I'm smoking that cigar. To the nubs.

If anybody cares to read the comments - the cigar I smoked was a Montecristo. I only ashed an 8 inch cigar 3 times. Very good quality. And in light of the game - it was the best cigar I've ever smoked.
The scotch was pretty good too.
And I did wait until after noon to imbibe. What do you think I am?
