USA wins gold, going 9-0 in the tournament

If the Olympic gold team was the "Redeem Team", what would we call this incarnation of USA basketball?  Globally, this team wasn't given much of a chance to take the gold in Turkey.  But here we are, after the team went on a 9-0 tear to finish up beating the home team Turkish by double digits.  And really they made it look easy.

Here's the problem with naming a team now - it has to rhyme.  So from Dream Team to Redeem Team, the precedent has been set to have rhyming name.  We are so stupid sometimes.  Truthfully, the team ought to be the Kevin Durant Theme Team.  It rhymes towards the end, so I'll count it.

In what is once again probably making Greg Oden feel bad about himself, Kevin Durant showed the world that he is the future of the league  - winning a gold medal and being named MVP of the tournament kind of sets him up for that.

And we break for the ritual Blazer fan chant:

I still love Greg Oden, I still love Greg Oden, I still love Greg Oden, I still love Greg Oden....

Seriously, I do love Greg Oden.  It would be great to see him play though.

Congratulations Team USA!

I was glad to see Odom grab a double-double... as for the Durant/Oden issue... it has to hurt. I've always looked at it from a business standpoint, instead of a team standpoint.

At the time, I thought Topps struck gold with Oden... but as it turns out... Durant is the one with gold around its neck... and UD is in the same boat as Topps... left w/o an NBA license.
