I have a few things on my list still that I want to try - or make myself try. Just off the top of my head I need to try sushi for the first time, change my own oil and start a fight club. OK. Maybe I won't start a fight club. But if I did, you'd never know about it. The first rule of fight club is that you don't talk about fight club....
2) Starting to love twitter. Didn't think I would. But it's fun to follow my favorite players. Plus, my avatar is a copy of a Batum rookie card. Maybe Batum will see that and follow that to this site. Maybe I should learn French to give myself the Twitter edge in the Nicolas Batum fan club.
3) Mike over at Sports Syzygy is busting a case of 08 Masterpieces baseball. He's really pulling some quality stuff. If you haven't stumbled onto his site yet, check it out and get yourself some of the cards he's busting. Really, after all that posted thus far, he's probably got something for everybody. And 08 Materpieces is on-card autos. So support products that got it right.
4) Blazers will probably play with Gerald Wallace tonight in their matchup against Atlanta. Should be a good watch. I'm not taking any cold medicine all day so that I can have a beer or two while I watch it tonight. Come to think of it, maybe I'll just go old school and beat this cold with a shot or three of Jack Daniels. I've been battling a head cold for a week. It may be time to break out the big guns.
5) I've been pricing out vintage '63 Topps this last week. It'll be a monumental undertaking for me. But it's not impossible. There are probably 10 cards that are super-cards from the set that will require some saving to obtain. But I'm confident I can get it done in a couple of years. It sounds like a long time, but the set is just shy of 600 cards - that are all nearly 50 years old. It will be my background project for a long while to come.
I went through my closet yesterday and got that mess all put into good order. My one and only 1963 Topps card is number 39 - the Los Angeles Angels Team card.

Why do I have this card? Well a couple of years back, my brother and I bought my dad a 1963 Topps Sandy Koufax card (my dad and brother are Dodgers fans). And to go along with that card, I thought it would be cool to get a LA Dodgers team card that would probably also feature Sandy Koufax. And on ebay, I found an auction, with no picture, that simply listed as "1963 Topps Los Angeles Team Card". I'm sure that the listing proably had the card number, but I didn't bother to check it. So I bought the team card in a quicky BIN purchase...and then the LA Angels card arrived in my mailbox. Suffice to say, my dad didn't recieve this card with the Koufax, I've held onto waiting for the gumption to try to build this set.
Quick side note: How many damn names has the Angels used in relation to Los Angeles? Damn. California, Anaheim, LA Angels of Anaheim....Pick a city and stick with it.
But this card is in pretty good condition. Really just a little rubbing on the edges, but the corners are in better condition than most. Card 1. Check.

I'm glad you're excited about racing season. I don't really know anyone around here that's into it. It's going to be a good day for sports.
I've been using Twitter a lot more, too. It's really an effective way to communicate with the people in the hobby.
I am getting into it. I'm not real knowledgeable yet, but I'm getting there.
The second rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club.
I have a pair of '63's sitting on my desk... hopefully you're not too picky about the condition. I'll ship them to you when I get a few more cards together for you. Good luck with that set.
Not too picky at all. Just no scotch tape holding two pieces together, lol.
No tape... I promise. What's your stance on bodily fluid stains? Just kidding... no stains either.
Hey G... was wondering... have you ever had HOTLIPS Soda? I noticed they were from the Portland area... my girl brought me back 24 bottles of this stuff and it's damn good.
Hotlips soda? Haven't heard of it. But I will look it up. I'm sure it's here in our local stores. But we also have a ton of microbreweries up here. So when i go to the store I typically spend more time looking through beers than sodas.
You'd just have to see the insane variety of beer we have in a local market here for that to make sense.
She bought it at a grocery store in SF... but she originally tried it at a pizza place, somewhere in Oregon. It's different than any other soda I've tried before, because they put fruit pulp into it. It's worth a try... even if it's for your kids.
