What I saw first was the title - Batum 1/1 Superfractor. Then I saw that it was his Topps Finest RC. I nearly had a panic attack. Even though the card would be a most welcome addition to any Batum collection, it fortunately isn't the RC that I'm looking for. So for now I can rest easy.
What would I have done if the Bowman Superfractor came up for auction? How could I possibly afford it at this point? Right now I'm in no shape to be able to buy a 1/1 Superfractor from one of the fastest rising stars from the international ranks. I guess I should count myself lucky.
And yet, that isn't all I have to say about this Superfractor. Some A'Hole went and had it slabbed and graded by Beckett. So thanks for that, Kool-Aid drinking fellow Batum collector. You know what? I bet the guy who had it graded isn't even a Batum collector. He probably just found a super-rare card and decided to make it more expensive because he lets the 'experts' at Beckett give it a grade and lock it in plastic - forever. The seller wants a thousand dollars for it. He'll probably accept less. Unless the 9.5 grading makes it a true thousand dollar card.....
I'm sorry, if I spent a grand on something, I'd have to have it in my hands at least one time. It's the same thing with the plastic-covered gold cards that Panini released. You have to have the actual card in your hands, just once, to brush your finger back and forth over the 1/1 stamp. And I know I'm not the only one who would do that.
In this economy, the seller must really need the cash. In the midst of a lockout, heading into the part of the season where basketball will be oddly absent, it's just not a good time to sell a high profile basketball card. But, to each their own. If I had the scratch, I'd put an offer in for it and hold it ransom until the RC came out that I really wanted. As it stands, I just have to watch through my plastic computer screen at the plastic covered card.

As a lite Batum collector, that angers me to see the slab as well.
Oh, that seller is on Hobbykings. I didn't know he had the Batum super. Great looking card, but I can't see it getting anywhere near $1,000. I'd think a few hundred maybe.
